échange nos pommes, chaque personne aura encore une pomme. Si on échange nos
langues, alors, chaque personne pourra parler deux langues.
The best
way to learn a language is to use it; the method to learn many words is to
learn a few at each time.
There are four modes of language exchange in DLI:
1. Global Village: each one speaks his/her
mother tongue (good for listening training);
2. Challengers : each one only speaks the languages
he/she want to practice (good for oral training);
3. Speak only your mother tongue patiently
(helping your partner to learn);
4. Speak only your targeted language (you
partner is helping you to learn).
For the modes
3 & 4, it can be 10-10 or 30-30, speak each language for 10 or 30
minutes. When chatting on the line,
people can type the
new words on the
screen, but don’t overuse it. As a french proverb says «Il faut tourner sept fois sa langue
avant de parler », so you should
try to listen
a new phrase at least three time before asking your partner to type it on the
screen.

As a
Chinese Canadian, we all proud of our multi-culturerism. We could see bilingual

the languages either in the parliament or in a show or shopping mall, I was always excited and emotional: one
minority group is not ignored, at that moment I just want to shout :
